“Land-based healing requires a paradigm shift—moving from colonial ideas of a single truth to Indigenous ways of knowing that are rooted in place and community.” — Clarke & Yellowbird

In 2015, VARJ partnered with the Vancouver Indigenous Friendship Centre and other Indigenous partners to host a public workshop at the Vancouver Public Library on land-based healing and restorative justice. The event, MC’d by CBC’s Gloria Macarenko, featured presentations from Inuit Elder Piita Irniq; Frank Brown, Elder from Bella Bella, B.C.; and Robin Gray, Ts’msyen, Lax Kw’alaams, B.C. The workshop invited Vancouver citizens to reflect on the teachings and their relevance to their own lives and communities.
